    Darrick Lazo was born in 1985 about 45 miles south of California's state capital in Stockton. He is the youngest of three children and was fortunate enough to have some guidance from his older sister and brother in many aspects of his life. Darrick's upbringing featured a wide array of interests. Through youth Darrick learned to play piano and clarinet, although his interests included music they where not limited to just that. He played baseball and also 'upper-house' and 'competitive' level soccer; which traveled outside of the San Joaquin County to face more focused teams. He was actively involved in school and was a teacher's aid in the 8th grade for several Kindergarten classes while still maintaining excellent grades. In high school Darrick added Guitar and the Pole Vault - Track & Field Event - to his list of activities, and in his first two years was apart of both the high school soccer team and traveling team simultaneously. Having a deep set interest in computers and technology, Darrick began to take introductory level computer programming courses at the local junior college concurrent with his high school education and extra curricular activities. After taking a few courses in programming he decided that was not where his passion lay.

    Darrick was accepted to several colleges and though it did not offer a partial scholarship as another university did, he settled on California State University Northridge. Accepted as a business major, Darrick made the leap the summer before college, and changed his major after several convincing conversations with high school friends, teachers, and counselors in his final semester of high school. The words of his classmates where especially motivating, as Darrick had built a reputation of pulling off A+ video presentations for every group project. From simple animation - his projects evolved into music videos, short dramatic pieces, literary interpretations, film and television spoofs, and even a local based commercial for the city's most renowned tuxedo rental shop. Once his major had been changed from Business to Cinema and Television Arts (CTVA) Darrick was accepted into the Film Production Option in his second year of college. He joined a fraternity and became a New Student Orientation Leader. Darrick served several positions in the fraternity and was able to raise a campus record amount of $12,000 for Children's Miracle Network. He also served on the Interfraternity Council, and kept up his campus involvement by becoming a "Take" cast member. Take XVIII was a production written and performed by its cast members, depicting college and life to incoming students. In his final year Darrick was granted the honor of being named a sorority sweetheart and following that recognition; 'Greek Man of the Year' was bestowed upon him by a board of campus faculty. Darrick was also accepted into the Greek Honor Society, "Order of Omega" that same academic year.

    After college Darrick began work immediately at a Production Rentals facility in Orange County. There he learned several hands on topics, becoming a specialist in Video Cameras, Lighting, Grip, and Electric. Darrick proved his worthiness and was given the task of managing the Expendables store as well as began stage managing on several productions at the facility. It was at that time where Darrick began an interest in Martial Arts and began training in Brazilian Jujitsu. After gaining work experience in production, Darrick realized his passion lay in post production, as it had in all his film school projects. He then was fortunate enough to become a Post Production Associate on an Emmy Award winning show and has served in that position for two seasons and will be returning as a Digitizer in his third season there.

    Darrick's interest continue to grow and his existing interested have become his expertise. Because of financial limitations, Darrick has found an incredible interest in "Do It Yourself" or DIY projects. He has built his own Projector, Home Theater, and his latest venture was an Aquaponic Greenhouse (an organic hybrid of hydroponics which uses a closed-loop system of fish providing the nutrients for the plants and vice-a-verse-a). Although he is no longer part a traditional sports team he has added Eskrima (Filipino Martial Arts) to his repertoire. Darrick's musical interest has not faded as he has a newly found affection for the Ukulele. He is very technically savvy and is well versed in several programs, enabling him in his Photography, Graphic Design, and Video/Film to be fully expressed both technically and creatively. Darrick lives his daily life by the following quote;

          "My candle burns at both ends;
           It will not last the night;
           But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends-
           -It gives a lovely light!"
