About Darrick
Born: Stockton, CAHometown: Huntington Beach, CA
Darrick Lazo was born and raised in California and enjoys all that California has to offer, that being the case, it was a natural pick to settle in Huntington Beach. Darrick is continuously striving to learn and grow, and is very dedicated to being good at any and every task that may arise. Currently Darrick works in the Entertainment industry and is the owner and lead photographer for Orange County Candids, a photography company specializing in headshots and events. Darrick has had the opportunity to work on several projects including but not limited to; The Amazing Race, MTV's New Year's Eve Special, and has worked on everything from commercials and web projects to broadcasts and shorts.
Darrick earned his Bachelor's of Arts Degree in Cinema & Television Arts with an Emphasis in Film Production specializing in Film Editing from California State University, Northridge. There he was so interested in the craft he pushed to complete the program in just 3.5 years - whereas the typical graduate at CSUN averages 5.9 years. While at CSUN Darrick was granted the honor of being a Delta Delta Delta sorority Crescent Man as well as having been recognized by campus officials as, Greek Man of the Year 2005-2006. In his collegiate years Darrick served the campus community by holding several positions within his fraternity, Sigma Chi, and also serving as a New Student Orientation Leader, Greek 101 Leader, Inter-Fraternal Council (IFC) Executive Member, & Take XVIII Cast Member. Having such a high value on education, Darrick went on to become an Apple Certified Pro and is continuously developing new skillsets and refining his craft.
Darrick's interests are not limited to technology and entertainment, he believes living a balanced life is the key to success. Darrick has completed California Dreamin Series and is also a RunSurfCity Longboard Legacy Member. Darrick has also pursued martial arts and is currently a Blue Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Paulo 'Jr' Gazze at Gazze Academy as well as a student of Filipino Martial Arts, Eskrima De-Campo JDC-IO under Jason Autajay. Currently he is training in cycling and hopes to complete a triathalon in the near future.
